Yep It's Friday!!!

It's Friday and I am linking the Java and her wonderful blog. This follow Friday thingy is so much fun! I've missed it.
First let me say a great big thank you to all of you who commented on my previous post. Thank you Saimi for the welcome back! It feels good to be back.
I have had a mommy free day today. My beautiful MIL took my 2 youngest kids for the day and picked my eldest up from school and is going to keep them over night. I LOVE my inlaws. They are awesome. So I called hubby, who is equally as awesome, and told him that we suddenly find ourselves kidless. I think he dropped the phone. Seriously, I heard a clunk, then he asked a silly question, "what did you do sell them off" I never laughed so hard. Scary thing is...how did he know. Hmm.
ok ok I really wouldn't sell my children. Then again, on the right day, to the right buyer...nooooo lol
So I called up a couple friends, who I think forgot who we are, and set up a little get together at a fantastic restaurant. We haven't been out with adults in a long time. I'm not sure I remember how to talk adult talk.

Oh My Goodness

Well now that the holidays are officially over I have time again to sit and pay attention to my lil ole blog here. Oh how I've missed you my little blog and the people who read and comment.

It all starts in October when we get ready for Halloween and our little trick or treaters. My children love dressing up and getting their bags full of yummy candy, daddy and I monitor the candy intake carefully, We don't usually take them to too many neighborhoods. We stick to Trunk or treat at our church, our neighborhood and a few places on base. All in all a good time is always had by all.

The rest of the holiday season is mixed with school programs, church programs, fall festival at church and my eldest skate club winter show, which is usually a huge production, of which I am one of the coordinators. Fun fun. My daughter has been skating since she was about 5, she's 9. She love love loves it with a capital LOVE. She lives and breaths skating. It's to the point now that we have also started ballet, I guess it helps with grace and poise on the ice blah blah blah ok. She does freestyle, is on a synchronized team and now wants to try ice dancing. Special skates for this, that and everything else. I get so confused. It's a good thing she knows what is what. I get a little freaked out about the cost when I write the check to her coach every month, pick up skates from being sharpened, or new costumes for what ever competition is coming next. but she loves it and that is what matters. My husband tells me to relax and enjoy her joy. I do believe me.

I also was on the planning committee for the fall festival. It was fantastic if I do say so myself. I cannot take all the credit because there were many people involved. High 5 to everyone.

Christmas came with a bang. We spent Christmas eve with my in-laws. We thought we would have to rent a u-haul to get all of the kids presents home. Thankfully we fit them all in the car, we strapped the kids to the roof. Christmas morning mommy and daddy were allowed to sleep in until 6am, after staying up half the night putting out santa gifts and eating cookies meant for santa and carrots meant for Rudolph and the other reindeer (I don't recommend mixing sugar cookies and carrots) Mommy and daddy awoke to little eyes peaking over the edge of the bed and pats on the cheek from little hands. We tried to ignore them..didn't work. So up we get and out to the tree we go. Little girls laughing and carrying on wakes the baby. Half an hour later everything was open and it was time for pumpkin pancakes. Have you ever had pumpkin pancakes? OMG!!! That is all I can say about that.

I have to say bless my 9 year olds heart. We were watching tv the other day and an ad comes on for the Susan G. Koman 3 day walk for the cure. She looks at me and says "mom how come we never do that?" As you may know from my older posts I am a breast cancer survivor, praise God, So I said well maybe we should start doing it. So we are registered for the Seattle 3day. Bless her little heart. I'm smiling really, kinda, ok I'm not smiling. So now I am getting together a "walk for the cure" committee at church to raise money for donations and sponsership of women/families who want to walk but can't. ok so maybe I'm not going to be as free as I thought I was. Yes I will.

Together Again

My last entry talked about my being a "single mom" of sorts. My husband was diployed for a short time and I was adjusting to life with 3 kids and no husband around. It's not much fun let me tell ya. I haven't blogged in a while. A few things kept me from being here like I would have liked to be. #1 was my husband being gone and having my kids to care for alone. #2..My son, the youngest, was sick and the dr couldn't pin point the problem. So he spent a couple days in the hospital, which broke my heart, then he was seen by a specialist. Somehow he had developed a blood infaction. My little guy is a drug baby. So far he's not shown many ill effects from his ordeal early in life, but no one knows what the future will bring. We adopted him and brought him into our home knowing we would have these problems but we love him dearly and wouldn't change a thing. My husband was sent home because of the seriousness of our son's situation. Obviously he was pretty sick.

So hubby his home now. Which is where I prefer him.

Learning New Things

As I find myself getting use to this sort of "single" life I am learning that I really don't like it. I'm missing my husband so much it's killing me. Ok so that was a little dramatic. I am not a drama queen. Really I'm not. This is the first time we've been apart for this length of time since we've been married. We'll be married 3 years in Nov.

The first thing I had to get use to was being a sort of single mom to 3 children under the age of 10. Before we were married I was a single mom to my eldest daughter. 1 is easy. 3..not so much. However, I have wonderful friends, wonderful step kids (grown) and amazing in-laws. So I do get some "me" time. It's just a little different.

I am also learning to use Skype. That is awesome. I can see his face..which of course makes me miss him even more. Sigh.

Follow Friday

Hello to my lovely followers. How are you?
I have been so very busy lately.
My hubby is officially out at sea for 6-9 months. With the Navy you never know for sure. Sometimes they say one thing and do something completely different. I was under the impression that he wasn't suppose to be deployed again before retirement, which is just a couple years away, but apparently I misunderstood what was said (rolling my eyes) Apparently we were told we wouldn't be transferred again before retirement. Oh my mistake. Anyhoo, So the kids and I are making the best of the rest of summer. School starts in a few weeks, no I'm not counting the days what mother does that, ha ha.
Last weekend I went for a kid free weekend to Victoria BC. I went with a couple friends. We had the best time. Remember I was kid free so a good time was had by all. It's really very beautiful there. We took a ton of pictures (I grabbed the correct camera..remember 4th of July?)
Our small groups bible study started again yesterday. I missed it so much. I belong to a group of moms lead by our pastors wife. We meet at a different members house every week. It's a lot of fun. We have a little bit of social time, swap kid stories, then get down to studying. This week's topic was being filled with the Spirit. It's always a wonderful and uplifting time.

A Mothers Rendition To William Tell Overture

Where Oh Where Have I Been?

Have you been wondering? Probably not and that is alright. I've just been busy. I told myself when I restarted this blog that I was going to be here faithfully every day, never miss it, blah blah blah. Anyway, obviously that all went out the window. My husband has been gone doing some navy training thing in Norfolk. Last weekend he came home for a 72 hour leave so we pretty much just hung out together with the kids. He's gone again for another 3 weeks. Gotta love the navy.

We are rapidly approaching the first day of school. The day every parent dreams about from the day after the last day of school. It's no longer the sad occasion it once was. Leaving them on the first day of kindergarten or even first grade with tears in your eyes as you realize your baby is growing up. Now...You long for the day the school bus comes and whisks your precious child away for 8 beautiful hours. You get up early, you make a lunch and lovingly pack it into the new lunchbox, you check the backpack, you feed them, then you open the door and watch as they walk to the bus stop. Once the bus is out of sight you call up all of your mommy friends and the party begins. The first day of school celebration where you all do the happy dance!

It is at this time of year that I don't mind shopping. New clothes, new shoes, new school supplies. All in anticipation of the wonderful sight of the big yellow school bus. Please don't get me wrong, I adore my children. I would give my life to save the life of my children, However, Summer vacation is so long lol. "I'm bored, there's nothing to do, there's no one to play with" It doesn't take long before the sound of my school age child's voice starts to sound like fingernails on a chalkboard lol. Now, I am a patient mom, a creative mom, even a fun mom but like any mom those words echo in your head and never seem to go away. Over and over you hear them. In your sleep you hear them. In just a few short weeks...sweet relief.

I should write a poem. "ode to the first day of school" Pretty sure it would make me famous.
